The Memory Pill

If you have encountered an agonizing or disturbing event in your life and you would like to rid the bad memories that go along with it, there may be an answer for you. There is a memory pill that is being researched that helps a person get rid of terrible memories. The drug that is located in the pill is called propranolol which is already used to prevent high blood pressure. If this invention does work out, I believe it will be a great thing for people who have some really bad memories in their lives. I also feel that it will give people the hope that they are looking for.

I completely understand how people take pills to remember things, but I think that taking a pill to erase momories is not a good idea. People make memories everyday. Not all memories are good, but they're still your memories. You can't change something that happened in the past. No matter how bad you want to forget something, you have to realize that it already happened, you can't do anything about it now, and move on with your life. Anyway, a lot of times if someone had something happen that was so traumatic that they can't handle it, their mind naturally represses it.

I think the idea of a pill to erase your mind is just totally out of this world.
There is no way that you can make a pill to make you forget things. Having a memory is something that is burned into your mind and you never forget. I don't believe that this pill will work. If people don't want to remember things than they should just not think about them.

Well I have to say I hope this can work out. Chances are it probably will not because people experience things for a reason and I do not know how a pill can cause memory loss. I am sure there will be a lot of bad side effects on the people that try this, but if this does work out I would be tempted to give it a try. Everyone out there has had a bad memory that they wished to be eliminated. How many times does those memories come back too? The answer is more then we wish.

I think the pill sounds very dangerous. Meddling with one part of the brain is very hard to pinpoint, let alone the side effects of the pill. It seems hard to believe that a pill could perform such a task. It’s possible the pill could erase memories an individual didn’t want erased, or possibly erase more than the person wanted. I feel, regardless if the pill was cleared, that there are way too many if, ands, or buts for the pill to become a successful product.

I think the pill does sound good in a way to help those get rid of bad memories but I wonder if people will use the pill for other things. There was a rumor going around that doctors would not put people under while performing a surgery. The doctors would tell the person that they will be out for the surgery but in reality the person is awake for the full surgery and were given a pill or liquid to make the person forget the pain and surgery. Thus believing the person was "asleep" for the surgery. I wonder if this really did occur or if it will now that doctors have something else to use. I still don't understand how the pill can target the memory people want to get rid of. In the case I described above the pill erased short term memory. Again I do not think this pill is a good idea, things happen for a reason and just because we don't like what happened or we don't understand why does not mean it was not suppose to happen. But that is just my opinion, I believe that everything happens for a reason, to teach us something important and it is up to us to learn the lesson or ignore the lesson.

I think it is a really interesting issue. As we know, bad memory is always a bothering problem for people, especially for aged people. Therefore, I believe if it truly does help, it will be quite popular. And I’m curious about how much it will cost, and what is the sell strategy – expensive and few quantity, or relatively cheap and mass production. All in all, hopefully it is not a flash in the pan.

This is a very interesting topic that I believe would help some specific groups of people, such as, war veterans, criminals, people with bad childhoods, etc. This type of pill could help them tremendously. However, I don't think that this will be available because if invented the side effects may cause serious damage to the person and if these dangerous side effects occur the pill will be disbanded, and many problems could occur outside the medical side. Bad memories are a person's past and I don't think they should be forgotten except for certain people who have had a very difficult time overcoming their past. If this pill is released and successful, only the people with dramatic bad experiences should be able to take the pill

WOW! This seems a bit ridiculous. I believe that this pill would come with so many risks and side effects, that it would not even be worth taking the pill. How is one drug supposed to earse a bad memory? what if you erase your memories of child hood? Will this drug make you forget who you are? Like this drug can't be healthy. What about antidepressants these days, are they not enough? In my perspective this drug seem inadequate and unrealistic!

I think that this "forgetting" pill is a bad idea because people should treasure their memories they make. Eventhough, people make bad decisions sometimes, they will sometime in their lives look bad on that memory and probably laugh about it, and even if they forget the memory, it still doesn't matter because other people will remember it. I also wonder if the people who would take this pill, will become a bigger target for Alzeheimers disease, because you know it will affect the mind harshly in some way.

This is a very interesting topic to me, and I'm not exactly sure where I stand on it. I'm sure it could be very helpful to some people (victims of rape/assault, war veterans, etc), but the idea seems too far-fetched to me. Would this pill erase your entire memory, or would it be selective? If it were selective, how would you know what memories it would erase? I don't think this drug would be out for a long time, and I don't know how safe it would actually be.

I think this would be a great drug if they can get it to work properly with no bad side effects. Expecially with the recent war going on this would greatly help our soldiers fighting for us to forget some of the terrible things that they have seen while fighting for us. If they can get this drug to work it would help to almost eliminate post traumatic stress disorder that effects alot of our soldiers and people that have been through a horrifying experience.
