Walmart Runs for the Hills of Canada

According to a Yahoo! News story, there has been a lot of talk about unionizing in Canadian Wal-Mart’s. Just this past Friday, United Food and Commercial Workers of Canada filed two applications to unionize some Wal-Mart employees. The union local's president stated that Wal-Mart is just going to have to get used to this. The story also mentioned a Wal-Mart in Quebec which already successfully got union certification. Wal-Mart responded to this certification stating that the process was undemocratic because it did not use secret ballots. Wal-Mart has even threatened that it will close this Quebec store as the workers have attempted to negotiate their first contract.

Do you think the Wal-Mart employees need a union? Is Wal-Mart being unreasonable when it comes to unionization, or should they be contesting the certification of these unions?
