Judgment Day For The FDA

With the recent yanking of Vioxx from store shelves, the FDA now seems to be looking into the Cox-2 inhibitors (common pain killers). Merk Co. the maker of Vioxx saw their stock prices fall greatly after the press release of their top rated drug being directly related to serious health problems. Pfizer, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world will be in the center of the stage standing behind their products Celebrex and Bextra. It will be very interesting to see how this effects the current medications offered for pain treatments in the future...

As for the celebrex and bextra issue, celebrex has already been recalled from the market. I have used both celebrex and vioxx. Bextra is now under investigation by the FDA and I have heard from drug representatives for Pfizer that it will not be pulled from the market. There are many other options for muscle relaxers. The newest of which being Mobix, which has been FDA regulated and approved.
