View Shows On iPod
I read an article on Usatoday.com explaining the NBC/iPod deal to give individuals the chance to buy and view shows on their iPods. NBC has entered into this deal after ABC has been making profits from the same idea. It states that NBC's goal is to have all their shows being able to be downloaded by viewers. Shows can be bought through iTunes, annd then transferred to the iPod. The shows are being sold at $1.99 through iTunes, and Apple has sold of 3 billion videos since October. How do you feel new technology has changed the economy? In what direction do you think technology will go in another 20 years, in regards to electronics such as these iPods?

I think that NBC is putting itself at a large risk, for possibly a small gain. By letting viewers download TV shows; NBC is putting itself at risk of entering the same boat as the music industry. I'm sure people already pirate tv shows of the internet but those are low quality at best. By NBC transferring their shows to be downloaded for the Ipod, they are putting better quality feeds on the internet. Some person is bound to find a way to pirate those high-quality videos off of NBC for free. Although NBC may get a small gain at the beginning, profits will decrease as sites with free high-quality videos of NBC shows begin to appear.
If the videos are only being sold through iTunes then i dont see how there could be a major pirating problem. NBC will make a profit from this and i dont see it decreasing for awile. Apple is doing amazing things with their iPod and they will continue to do so. People are going to buy the TV shows and will continue to do so
I agree with Chris, I feel as if those companies are putting themselves at a very high risk. I believe that at first people will pay for these videos and make a pretty decent profit, but just like Chris said someone will be able to find a way to download them and put them on their Ipod's for free.
Yeah it is risky for the companies. They will make a profit until some one finds away to download the videos illegally
I think the i pod and PSP are the farthest video games and music technology will come within 20 years.
I think that the new ipods are going to be HUGE but I also feel that they are only going to be able to go so far with new technology so they should space themselves out as far as new inventions like that.
I think new technology has changed the economy in a good way. New products coming out have created a rush to get one of and a feeling of a need to have one. This can only boost the economy in a positive way. People feel a need to have something new that other people do not. With new technology products continuing to come out people will continue to flock to the stores to buy one. The more money being made and spent is a good thing for the economy. As far as where technology will go over the next twenty years, i think it is only going to get more and more impressive and mind blowing.
