Can You Here Me Now?

Since the creation of the cell phone during the late 1980's it has changed the world forever. No longer is it uncommon to see someone talking to themselves while walking down the street, or while sitting in class at school to hear a song from one of our favorite artists. In fact cell phones are being used at record numbers, and as a cause of this some states have banned cell phone use while driving. For istance it is illegal to drive and use a hand held cell phone in the state of New York, and other states such as California are working to put a ban on cell phones while on the road.

As the cell phone craze continues it is more of a problem in certain states and cities. Miami, Florida has become the number one city for cell phone use. With the average person recieving nine to ten calls per day, and that number will continue to increase as more and more people every day continue to buy cell phones.

Cell phone use has greatly increased since we first saw the huge bulky cell phones enter the scene in the eighties. My prediction for the future of cell phones is that every member of the household will own a cell phone rather than using the "landline". Why bother calling someone at their home, having to ask for them, and risking the possibility of them not even being there, when you can hit speed dial on your cell phone and directly reach that person? But, I must agree with new laws that prohibit cell phone use while driving. While many of us are skilled enough to handle the wheel and our phones, a large majority are not, thus causing numerous car accidents in the United States. Talking on the phone takes the driver's attention away from the main task at hand: Getting from point A to point B without harming themselves or anyone else, for that matter.
