Jobs are decreasing in 2007

The amount of jobs is decreasing this year compared to last year. The amount of jobs is even worse than it was in the year 2001. Last year there was an average of 187,000 new jobs each month. This year there is an average of 100,000 jobs each month. Right now the economy is running at a very slow pace. "Low inventory levels suggest the shelves and showrooms and warehouses are going to have to be replenished. They'll have to pick up the pace of hiring and refill those depleted inventories."
What will happen to the economy if it keeps going down? What will happen to economy if the there are less jobs in America?

America is turning into more of a service economy. It's just a matter of people specializing where there are jobs available. This country has bounced back from worse unemployment rates.

What Katie says is true. The U.S is just going through a cycle right now that will eventually fix itself. It all depends on what jobs are available at the present time. Also, it depends on what type of job it is and what type of person intends to work that job.

I agree with both Katie about how you need specialized people for the jobs now. Luke is also right about how it is just going through a cycle. I think the reason why there are fewer job is because they are going over seas so that it is cheap labor.

The job situation will balence out, our country has been through worse times then these and come out on top, i think we have enough checks and balences in place so there will not be a real serious problem with unemployment.

Brian, the title of your post and some of your comments are imprecise and misleading. The TOTAL number of jobs in the US is NOT decreasing. The article that you link to merely says that the number of NEW jobs created each month is lower than what it had been in the recent past. This means, however, that the TOTAL number of jobs is still increasing.
