Why USA cant support a sport like every other country

Soccer is the most popular sport in every other country, so why not the USA. People say soccer is for wussies, or people who are afraid to get hit. But infact soccer is right behind football in the list for most dangerous sports. I dont get why soccer isnt popular here, I mean i like football dont get me wrong but it gets boring seeing the same scores being in the higher 20's. SO why dont people like soccer? Statistics show that most people dont like soccer because they dont take the time to understand the game. If you really think about it soccer is a game of timing and strategy just like football. Yes most people say football is a better sport, it is more fun to watch, its more exciting because more happens, and lastly because theres harder hits. I disagree with these becasue of the fact that in soccer is entertaining which is why its the most watched sport every where else, more doesnt happen there is still hard hitting and lots of pain and suffering, and lastly hits happen any where from slide tackles, to elbows, to shoulder to shoulder tackles. So why isnt soccer liked in America? It is a great sport with lots excitement, rivalry, and lots of pride. Another reason I feel it is like so much is because all of the athletes who play soccer dont do it for the money, hinting that the highest payed player in the US is a 16 year old boy making half a million dollars. This is why I feel Futbol (soccer) should be just as popular if not more popular than the sports in the United States. What do you guys think???

Soccer is recognized all across the world as the most entertaining sport and I also don't understand why it hasn't caught on in the United States. I come from a long line of Greek soccer players and I understand how challenging of a sport it is. Swiftness, endurance and agility are absolutely necessary-- and the players are expected to be performing at their best for longer periods than American Football players--- but at least American Football fans aren't as hostile as the European fans.

In America lots of people love football, baseball, and basketball, because they already in US for a long time, in each sport they have superstar to allure people to watch it.American love it, they already got what they like and what they wanted. How can you let people who already love a sport to love soccer?

The popularity of soccer is something that is much more complex then just liking it. Area is a big deal in the popularity some locations only care about football. Other areas are built around baseball. You see this a lot with smaller schools because of the lack of people to play sports. A lot of schools only support certain sports, and I don't really know who controls that. I played soccer when I was in grade school because we didn't have football until 8th grade. So it was just something to do. A lot of schools have conflict with that, and even if they do have soccer they also have football. This creates a choice between the two which doesn't help soccers fight for popularity. They lose a lot of athletes because of the season its played in. Popularity of soccer as a nation isn't that surprising. Most nations are different in everything they do. Music, cars, and cloths are different wherever you go in the world. So why wouldn't the popularity of sports be any different. It's just the American culture.

Who cares if soccer isn't popular in America? In fact, I think it is even a good thing that soccer is low on the sports popularity list in America. Just because the rest of the world likes soccer does not mean that we should be forced to enjoy it as well. Change and being different can be a good thing....and I just personally believe that the other big three sports in America of Football, Baseball, and Basketball are far more entertaining then soccer.

I personally dont like soccer because the games are entirely too long & boring. I've watched soccer & I understand that there is plenty of contact, but I like to see constant action & high scores. I love baskeball & football for this. Every second something exciting is going on, & its not 1-0 every game. The NBA has the best athletes in the world competing in one of the hardest sports in the world. Plus, people know Lebron James, Steve Nash & Kobe, but other than like David Beckham and Landon Donovan who else does soccer have?

Soccer will never be as big as football or baseball because those sports are too worldly. We like to watch sports that are American. I agree soccer is a good sport, but it will take alot for it to be recognized like other sports are here in the U.S.
