MLB Players Make Too Much Money?

Many hard working Americans were outraged when Alex Rodriguez signed a record contract that would give him 252 million dollars over 10 years. How can a grown man playing a kids game make over a quarter billion dollars while Americans working “normal jobs” make so little?

So it is a common response that most think professional athletes, particularly baseball players, make entirely too much money while teachers and other hard workers don’t make enough.

There is no doubt that 252 million dollars is a lot of money, more then anyone would ever need to live well. It is also only natural to want as much as you can get especially if the owner of the team you signed with is making even more money then that off of selling goods and tickets with your name attached to them. It is difficult to calculate how many people Alex Rodriguez puts in the seat day in and day out, and many hot dogs and pops those people purchase but there is no doubt the New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner is making a pretty penny by having A-Rod on his team.

On jersey sales of $150 each it is clear that possibly the problem isn’t the players asking for too much money, but instead the owners trying to make too much money off these “cash cows” that put people in the stands.

This is a topic that i am isterested in because i love baseball. The reason for the high price of clothing, tickets, food, and pay checks is simple; supply and demand. There are millions of people who pay the extreem prices because there is a small supply of players with the skills of ARod. I am one of the millions of people who don't mind paying the high prices for tickets and food because i enjoy watching the games. I don't have a problem with the wages that pros make, because of the skills that they have, and the dream that I might be able to play in the pros in the future. Obviously the managers are making a lot more money to be able to pay these wages, so they just give an even greater insentive for the good players to want to play for the teams with the big bucks. The teams with the good players get more fans and make even more money.

I would have to agree with Jordan, all professional athletes do get paid to much money. Alex Rodriguez is still getting paid his 252 million dollars even though he is on a new team and has a new contract, and how ridiculous is it that jerseys are so much when the athletes can afford millions of them. I find it ridiculous that professional athletes make more than the life changing people such as doctors and lawyers. I find it an outrage that professionals like T.O. and Chad Johnson bitch and complain about not making enough money when they are already making close to 10 million dollars. Give me a eighth of that money and I will take it and run, and I am sure anyone would do the same.
