gas prices affect transportation

Gas prices have been on the rise for some time now, but it seems lately it has hit the American population hard. According to the above article, airlines are trying to find ways to cut costs to make up for the high fuel prices they incure for the flights. If this gas price hike continues, it is probable that airlines will be forced to raise already high airfares. Do you think airlines will continue to raise fares to try and keep up with the rising fuel prices?
