Would you like a finger with that?

A human finger was found in a bowl of Wendy's chili in California. The finger was approximately 1 1/2 inches in length and authorities feel it is a womans finger because it was well manicured. They say the woman that received the finger in her chili will be fine because the chili was fully cooked. I am sure that lady is not fine. She is more than likely traumatized and will never be able to eat at Wendys or any other fast food resturant again.
My question is how do you not know you lost part of your finger?
Authorities checked all employies of this Wendy's and all still had their fingers and it is thought to have come from a manufacturer but there have been no work related accidents reported. Does someone really not realize they lost their finger or are they trying not to get fired?
As far as economics go will this hurt Wendy's business? Not just the amount of chili consumption but their business in general? If you feel that it will hurt their business for a while but will eventually pick back up how long do you think this will stick in peoples minds?

I read about this in the paper and was truly shocked myself. I, personally, would realize and do something in the situation of my finger falling off. I have a feeling this may lead to legal matters, and wendy's will be faced with a law suit. However, lets face it... we've all heard the story..... and I'm sure we've all been to Wendy's at least once since then.
